DAYTON, Ohio, January 28, 2016 – The Water Street District is excited to announce that Marriott has awarded a 115-room Fairfield Inn and Suites franchise to the development. Water Street is seeing tremendous growth along the downtown Dayton riverfront. The hotel, which will be located on the northeast corner of Monument Avenue and Patterson Boulevard, is the next piece in the overall Water Street District master plan. “The addition of a new, well-branded hospitality component will add to the unique and diverse nature of the project,” said Crawford Hoying partner Bob Hoying. It will complement the 50,000 s.f. office and retail building, the 215 luxury apartment units currently under construction and the renovation of the historic Delco building into 134 loft apartment units with first floor retail.

Dublin, Ohio-based Crawford Hoying Development Partners and Dayton, Ohio-based Woodard Development are excited to team with international hotelier Shaner Hotel Group. Based in State College, Pennsylvania, Shaner Hotel Group is one of the foremost owner operator companies in the hospitality industry, with over 40 properties and 5,000 rooms in 17 states and 2 countries.

The award of the franchise is the culmination of months of due diligence and efforts by the developer, operator and Marriott to bring a new hotel to downtown Dayton. It will be the first hotel developed in the area in the past 20 years. The hotel project still needs to obtain the necessary zoning and building permits as well as finalize development agreements with the City of Dayton and the Dayton Public Schools, a process that will continue over the next few months. “The City and DPS have been strong supporters and great partners throughout the Water Street District development and we look forward to continuing that strong relationship,” said Woodard Development principal Jason Woodard.
