Brent Crawford is a Principal and Founder in the full service real estate firm Crawford Hoying and family of companies. Brent has guided the vision of the company for the past 20 years, which he has grown from a single investment property in 1994 to one of the largest real estate firms in Columbus, Ohio. The residential and commercial real estate brokerages alone manage over 2,000,000 sq ft of commercial properties, and have closed over $2.4 billion in transactions.
Brent is currently guiding the development of $500 million in new developments to be completed over the next three years, and manages the company's relationships with over 100 equity investors. He has spoken at many events as a guest speaker covering topics such as current real estate trends, multi-family markets, and development growth in Central Ohio. In addition, Brent taught property management and real estate trends for two years at the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University.
Bob Hoying returned to central Ohio in 2002 after a seven-year career as a quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders in the National Football League. The former Ohio State Buckeye had earlier befriended Brent Crawford during a chance pairing on the golf course in 1998. Upon his return to the Columbus area, the two men partnered to purchase the 252-unit apartment community Gateway Lakes in 2002. Within ten years the pair had grown their partnership into a full service real estate company, managing over 20 apartment communities, over 1 million sq ft in commercial real estate, and becoming major contributors in Central Ohio real estate development.
Bob takes an active role in guiding the company's $500 million in new developments. His role includes several facets of the development process, including land acquisition, property due diligence, closing requirements, and the obtainment of city entitlements.
Nelson Yoder's diverse experience in financial analysis, architecture and construction provide him with a uniquely broad understanding of all aspects of real estate development. He holds an MBA focused in Real Estate Development and Construction Management from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor's Degree of Architecture from Ball State University.
Nelson worked with large Columbus, Ohio firm M+A Architects for over a decade, eventually rising to the position of Partner while overseeing the master planning, zoning, design, leasing coordination, and construction of over 7,500,000 S.F. of Mixed-Use, Retail, Office, Multifamily, Hospitality, Religious and Industrial projects. Nelson is a licensed architect, earning his certification from NCARB in 2004, and LEED Accreditation in 2008.
In 2010, Nelson co-founded Real Estate Development Advisors where his responsibilities included financial modeling, procurement of public subsidies, market analysis and management of consultant teams. Nelson joined Crawford Hoying Development in 2012 to facilitate the firmâ€™s development of more Class A mixed-use projects.
Matthew Starr is the Director of Development for Crawford Hoying, joining the team in April, 2014. In that role with Crawford Hoying, Starr has involvement in all aspects of development, including acquisitions/due diligence, deal structuring, planning/design, government negotiations, leasing, financing, and construction.
Prior to joining Crawford Hoying, Starr was the Director of Real Estate for Nationwide Realty Investors, Ltd., for nearly ten years. While at NRI, Starr was involved in all phases of the development of Grandview Yard, a 100 acre mixed-use project in Grandview Heights, OH.
Starr began his career in Real Estate Finance for National City Bank (now PNC Bank), from 1995-2004. Starr is a 1994 graduate of Saginaw Valley State University (BBA), and a 2002 graduate of The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western University (MBA).
Jeff Roberts joined the team in January of 2016 as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Crawford Hoying. Roberts provides all aspects of legal representation to Crawford Hoying, including development, leasing, financing, acquisitions and compliance matters.
Prior to joining Crawford Hoying, Roberts was a Director at the law firm of Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter, where he practiced in the real estate and banking area. Roberts began his legal career with the law firms of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP and Baker & Hostetler LLP.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Miami University and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Virginia School of Law.
Greg Merrin, CPA serves Crawford Hoying as Chief Financial Officer. A strong leader and manager, Greg brings over 25 years of business and accounting expertise to Crawford Hoying. From personal experience, he balances the perspective of the business owner with proven understanding of the relationships between corporate goals, organizational procedures, and compliance requirements in financial management.
Greg began his career as a Controller and MIS director in a large real estate company, directing all financial management operations and working with a Big 6 accounting firm for year-end auditing. Ensuing roles as business owner, controller and financial consultant have given Greg a keen insight into operational issues, staff management and GAAP compliance. He consistently targets and solves strategic problems.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business from Bluffton College and he passed the CPA exam in the State of Ohio with High Distinction, scoring in the top 100 in the US. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mike joined Crawford Hoying in 2005, and has served as the president of Crawford Hoying Living since 2015. He manages the residential management portfolio and operations team, and oversees day to day maintenance and capital projects for the entire Crawford Hoying residential portfolio. Mike has also managed the support businesses owned and operated by Crawford Hoying.
Mike's day to day responsibilities include facility expense and needs analysis, customer service, contract negotiations, collaborating with the development team, and recruiting new services staff members.
Prior to coming to Crawford Hoying he worked for a sole proprietor for 20 years in all facets of the multifamily and commercial real estate business, where he eventually rose to the role of COO.
Russ Hunter joined Crawford Hoying Development in 2013 as Design Director, overseeing both architectural vision and interior design for all of the new developments. After earning his degree from Miami University Russ moved to Columbus where he eventually became Senior Designer at M+A Architects for more than 8 years.
At M+A Architects Russ played a key role in the design of more than a dozen mixed-use projects, giving him a deep understanding of mixed-use neighborhood design and planning.
Since joining Crawford Hoying Development, Russ works with the entire project team to create a vision for the project site's future through site planning, building programming and architectural design and works with the team to create a beautiful and financially viable project.
Ted Orr joined Crawford Hoying in February of 2016 as Director of Development Experience. Orr leads, manages and implements corporate identity ensuring consistency across all brands and oversees the creation and fabrication of specialty collateral and content.
With a main focus on user experience for new development targets and current key properties, Orr maps out content and marketing strategies, leads in the development of internal and external marketing plans, and engages with key external partners to produce, edit and implement key brand and content initiatives.
He holds a Multimedia Information Technology Degree from ITT Technical Institute.
Bobbie Fuller joined Crawford Hoying in 2005 as a member of the Human Resources Department and has served as Human Resources Manager since 2009. Her responsibilities include recruitment, benefits, discipline, conflict resolution and payroll for the entire Crawford Hoying portfolio.
Prior to coming to Crawford Hoying Fuller spent 20 years working for a sole proprietor in all facets of the multifamily and commercial real estate business, where she was the CFO and the HR Manager. Prior to that Bobbie was a Personnel Manager for the United States Air Force.
As an important member of the Crawford Hoying team since 2015, Allison leads the identification and evaluation of potential investments and acquisitions. Her responsibilities include market and feasibility analysis for project design, managing the development and implementation of investment information as well as sets baseline metrics and monitors project financials.
Prior to Crawford Hoying, Allison worked for Cushman & Wakefield as an appraiser. She holds a BSBA from The Ohio State University and is a State of Ohio Certified Commercial Real Estate Appraiser.
Chris Wagner joined Crawford Hoying in 2010 with 30 years of experience in the real estate industry and currently serves as Vice President of Commercial Asset Management. His responsibilities include daily operational decisions, such as leasing, investing, staffing, budgeting and general oversight of the commercial arm of Crawford Hoying Real Estate Services.
Prior to joining Crawford Hoying, Wagner spent 23 years with NAI Ohio Equities in asset management and development. While at Ohio Equities, he was responsible for various development projects including Big Bear Farms, an eighty acre development consisting of 500,000 SF of retail/commercial space in Powell, Ohio, and management of a 1,000,000 square foot portfolio consisting of office, industrial, parking garage and retail shopping centers.
Laurie Keifer joined the team at Crawford Hoying in December of 2008 as a Regional Manager and has served as Director of Operations since 2011. Laurie oversees the operational functions at Crawford Hoying Living, including spearheading nine communities that account for over 2,200 apartments with a concentration on Crawford Hoyingâ€™s New Developments.
Prior to joining Crawford Hoying, Keifer spent several years at AIMCO as the Regional Sales Director and was an award winning Senior Account Executive for the Greater Columbus Apartment Guide.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Communication degree from The Ohio State University and is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Crawford Hoying Real Estate.
Aimee Elosh joined Crawford Hoying in 2008 as a Regional Property Manager and has served as Director of Operations since 2011. She oversees daily operations for Crawford Hoying Living, focused on increasing revenues. Aimee also assists with the Crawford Hoying Foundation.
Prior to joining Crawford Hoying, Aimee worked for AIMCO, one of the largest owners and operators of apartment communities in the United States, for three years. Aimee served as a Regional Manager in their Midwest Division and received recognition as manager of the â€œPortfolio of the Yearâ€ for three consecutive years.
Don Brokaw joined Crawford Hoying as the Vice President of Commercial Sales and Leasing in May 2010. With over 15 years of commercial real estate experience, his knowledge of the Central Ohio and surrounding markets has enabled him to serve the needs of his many diverse clients, ranging from local, regional and national entrepreneurs, investors, and businesses.
Don holds a B.A. Degree from the Ohio State University and is a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors, the Ohio & National Association of Realtors and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Don believes the key to successful real estate brokerage is the ability to develop relationships based on trust, communication, expertise, and personal service.
Jamie Moore joined Crawford Hoying in 2008 as a Real Estate Specialist. He focuses primarily on retail and office leasing as well as real estate development.
Jamie has an expertise in working with restaurants and his extensive knowledge of the Columbus market and community has been a great asset to the firm especially as it relates to mixed use development.
Prior to joining Crawford Hoying, Jamie worked for real estate developer Tim Reardon, where he worked on new development and retail leasing.
Before entering the real estate industry, Jamie spent seven years as a multiple site restaurant owner. Jamie is a graduate of The Ohio State University and is a lifelong resident of Columbus.
Caitlin Davids joined the Crawford Hoying team in September of 2014 as Residential Sales Coordinator. Davids is responsible for assisting with floor plan design of the for sale product, taking buyers through the entire build-out process, facilitating vendor relationships and aiding buyers in the interior finish selections.
Prior to joining Crawford Hoying, Davids was the Residential Sales Assistant for Nationwide Realty Investors, Ltd. where she worked on the North Bank Condominiums in the Arena District from 2011 to 2014. During that time she was responsible for the day-to-day office functions, showings and managing client needs during the construction period.
She is a graduate of The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business.
Tom joined the Crawford Hoying team in 2004 and has been the Broker of Crawford Hoying Real Estate since 2014. He oversees majority of the transactions for Crawford Hoying Real Estate and assists clients with retail, office and restaurant space. Goecke also serves as the liaison to many of Crawford Hoyingâ€™s residential and commercial investors and is the head of the Crawford Hoying Residential Real Estate division.
Previously the property manager of a 5-community, 1,100-unit portfolio and of a 216-unit condominium complex, Goecke has an extensive background in multifamily acquisition, disposition and management. He was also a project manager and price optimization advisor at Crawford Hoying Living.
Tom holds a Bachelorâ€™s degree in Consumer Affairs from The Ohio State University.
