Bake Me Happy

Bake Me Happy is a gluten free, wholesale and retail bakery and coffee shop, that was established on the south side of Columbus in 2014. Co-owners and 2017 Columbus Monthly Tastemakers Letha Pugh and Wendy Miller Pugh made it their mission to raise the bar in the gluten free allergen world by increasing gluten free options.

Bake Me Happy's vision and culture begins with their people. Together, Letha and Wendy drive the culture of Bake Me Happy towards one that values employees and the hard work they put in each day. They want to inspire their staff to be the best they can be.

"Letha and I are excited to join the North Market family in Dublin, so we can expand our reach to our fans up North," said Wendy Miller Pugh. "We believe that Bridge Park will be a perfect second location for us with a fast grab and go set up, so you can get your gluten free goodness fix seven days a week!"

Bake Me Happy takes gluten sensitivity and intolerance seriously. They do not allow any gluten containing ingredients in the kitchen, and they work very hard to keep everything safe for people with other allergies as well. The Bake Me Happy product line includes favorites, such as Oatmeal Creme Clouds, PopTarts, King Dongs, Zebra Cakes, Spicy Peanut Butter cookies, specialty scones and more. Bake Me Happy will bring an array of local coffee roasters to their drip coffee and will sell whole beans from roasters across the city. Their specialty cold brews will also be on the menu with unique offerings such as Strawberry Nesquik Cold Brew and other seasonal favorites (like Lavender Cold Brew). And as always, guests can add glitter or CBD to their favorite beverage.

"We could not be happier to welcome Bake Me Happy to the North Market Bridge Park merchant mix," said Rick Harrison Wolfe, North Market's Executive Director. "In operating a local, beloved gluten free bakery, Letha and Wendy have done an excellent job to ensure dietary inclusivity for their guests. And their commitment to our community in all ways is unsurpassed."

Bake Me Happy, originally opened as a wholesale business, moved to a bigger space so they could better operate a retail shop and later expanded further with a coffee shop. Due to COVID-19, their current coffee shop has transitioned to a gluten free bodega-style store. The new location at North Market Bridge Park will be their second retail space.

BREaD Bakery + Café

BREaD Bakery + Café will join North Market Bridge Park's lineup of merchants and will be the first bricks & mortar concept from Fromagerie, a locally-owned, operated and licensed micro bakery focused on crafting yeasted and sourdough breads using slow fermentation methods. Fromagerie was launched in 2017 by owner Kim Hendrix. Fromagerie has been selling at six Columbus area farmers' markets, beginning with the New Albany Farmers Market, as well as taking orders through their online store.

BREaD Bakery + Café will focus on their core savory bread assortment (including French baguettes, ciabattas, a range of sourdough loaves, cheesy loaves, and cheesy baked snacks), an expanded offering of sweet items, and new ready-to-eat items such as baguette sandwiches, tartines, and savory croissants. BREaD Bakery + Café will also offer coffee and tea to complement their core and seasonal menu items.

"What a thrill it is to join the North Market Bridge Park to showcase the breads & baked goods component of our business!" said Hendrix. "Fromagerie has joyfully distributed artisan loaves at area farmers markets for the past three years. Our market customers know we are passionate about serving our community freshly baked, wholesome and delicious-tasting baked goods. Our new Fromagerie BREaD Bakery + Café is the perfect place to extend our reach, our product line, and delight North Market Bridge Park shoppers every day.”

While dough production and baking of hearth breads will continue to take place at Fromagerie's micro bakery located inside the 1400 Food Lab, BREaD Bakery + Café will bake selected items on site at North Market Bridge Park to provide the neighborhood with the warm, wonderful smells of fresh-baked breads and other treats. The new format will also include a catering service to provide freshly made provisions to local homes, offices and special events.

"A true public market is not complete without traditional, fresh-baked breads on offer daily," said Wolfe. "Kim has proven herself an artisanal bread maker that will fit right in at North Market Bridge Park. Kim is beloved in the farmers market world and we can't wait for our guests to experience BREaD."

Hoyo's Sambusas & Juice Owners

Hoyo's Sambusas & Juices

North Market Bridge Park will welcome Hoyo's Sambusas & Juices, the new 'Sambusas and Juices' concept from the team behind Hoyo's Kitchen. Brothers Abdilahi "A.B." Hassan and Mohamed Hassan (2019 Columbus Monthly Tastemakers) opened their first authentic, fast-casual Somali restaurant in 2014 with their mother, Hayat Dalmar. Originally founded as a way to celebrate their mother's cooking, (Hoyo translates to Mother in Somali), the family owned and operated restaurant later expanded with a full-time shop at North Market downtown in 2019. Hoyo's Sambusas & Juices will be owned and operated by A.B., Mohamed, and their sister Anod Hassan.

The motivation behind Hoyo's is to introduce guests to Somali food and continue to reach a wider audience. By combining traditional recipes and flavors with the modern fast-casual delivery method, the Hassan family encourage guests to try their family recipes that taste simultaneously exotic, familiar, and comforting.

Similar to samosas, the East African version of the classic fried pastry is called “sambusa.” Sambusas have a thinner, chewy dough wrapped around a traditionally savory filling. Variations of this food come from all over the world and provide a template for experimentation and a variety of daily special options. With sambusas pre-made and ready to cook, Hoyo's Sambusas & Juices will be able to quickly serve customers fresh comfort food, along with a variety of fresh juice options.

“We at Hoyo’s Kitchen are really excited about bringing our Sambusas and Juices concept to Bridge Park and introducing it to the wider Dublin community," said Mohamed Hassan. "Having a stand alone Sambusa and Juice shop has been a lifelong dream of ours, and to take this next step with our partners at North Market is a perfect match.”

“The entire Hassan family has been a key part in Hoyo’s Kitchen downtown since day one,” said Wolfe. “We’re thrilled for our friends at Hoyo's to make their new concept a reality at North Market Bridge Park. They are the epitome of our mission and we couldn’t be more proud to help them expand."

The Pit BBQ Grille

North Market Bridge Park will welcome The Pit BBQ Grille to the merchant community. Established in 2016 and co-owned by four friends, Bryant Browning, Chimdi Chekwa, D’Andre Martin, and Mike Johnson, The Pit BBQ Grille has made it their mission to serve the community by providing an inviting atmosphere, quality meats, delicious sides and their house made BBQ sauce.

Browning, Chekwa, Martin, and Johnson truly believe in enjoying great food with great people and the team strives to provide both for the Central Ohio community at large. Inspired by their friendship, The Pit BBQ Grille brings together each of the owners’ individual experiences with home cooked BBQ and cookouts. The North Market Bridge Park location will be their third restaurant location.

The Pit BBQ Grille makes their signature BBQ sauce in-house every day and all of their sides are made from scratch. Signature dishes include: 1.) Award Winning Polish Boy/Girl: Deep Fried Beef Polish Sausage Topped with Fresh Cut Fries, Pit Slaw and Signature BBQ Sauce. The Girl is the same dish but with added Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken, or Brisket to it. 2.) Pit Bowl: Toasted Brioche Bun select meat (brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken or beef sausage) topped with Mac & Cheese, Pit Slaw and their signature sauce. 3.) Pit Fries: Fresh cut fries topped with cheddar cheese and the customer's selection of meat (brisket, pulled pork or pulled chicken).

"North Market has been a staple in Columbus for many years and we are excited to be a part of the expansion into the Bridge Park community," said Browning. "We feel in these uncharted and tense times, our food has the tendency to make people feel relaxed, at ease and gives the customer a chance to reminisce about a special moment in time when things were easier. Whether it was a family picnic, backyard BBQ or a gathering with friends on a lazy afternoon, our charcoaled grilled/smoked meats, fresh homemade sides and sauce never lets our customers down. We are excited to bring our family recipes to the Dublin market and serve the people!"

"Already the entire team behind The Pit BBQ Grille has shown themselves to be true friends to their community," said Wolfe. "The quality and authenticity they exhibit is precisely what we look for in new merchants and we couldn't be more thrilled to welcome them to North Market Bridge Park! The signature Polish Girl is to die for!"
